The 5th Great Lakes Regatta took place on the 10th July with 15 – 20 knots of wind, clear blue skies and 6 eager teams all hoping to win the superb prize provided by Great Lakes USA.
4 races took place over the day, with all the teams fighting for position, with some close exciting racing which was great to watch considering most of the guests on board the yachts had never sailed before!
One team has raced in the Travel Mole and Great lakes Regatta since it started in 2010 and after 5 years of trying, they were finally rewarded in 2014 with 4 individual race wins and of course the overall regatta win. Travelport, led by their captain and sailing guru Kate Aldridge not only won the coveted ‘Mckenzie Cup’, but also a luxury 5 star trip out to Lake Michigan with great hospitality provided by Great lakes USA .
